With Thanksgiving having just ended and the winter holidays fast approaching, now seems to be a perfect time to give thanks to a couple of our community volunteers, the Meth-Wick Community and the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP). Over the past couple of years Kids on Course and the schools have partnered with organizations that strive not only for excellence in their professional field but also for excellence in giving to others. The staff and seniors at Meth-Wick have donated over a combined 40 hours of volunteer work coordinating, delivering, and packing food bags for Harrison students to take home and eat over the weekend for free!
Once a month Meth-Wick coordinates with HACAP to receive food for 21 students to get bags once a week for a month. This adds up to about 85 bags of food, and around 340 meals! The kids that receive the food bags are always so excited when they get them and the gratitude on their faces is something I won’t easily forget.
So from all the students at Harrison, and everyone at Kids on Course, we would like to say thank you to all of our volunteers, partners, and families for everything you do. It is an honor to work with such great people.
